School Council

The School Council, like the Governing body, the Friends of Hollingbourne, the head teacher and staff aim to make Hollingbourne School an even better place.   Members of The School Council listen to the views of children in every class and explore realistic possibilities for change. Children in all classes have access to suggestion boxes in which they can submit ideas and views about any aspects of school life. The School Council meets approximately once each term (six times per year) and discuss suggestion box submissions and other topical issues highlighted by the children.
Having access to a School Council means children understand their views and ideas matter,  helping them learn the importance self-worth, independence and democracy.  The children are also able to see first hand the results of some of their suggestions and watch them grow from an idea into reality.
